 Coming to Lakefield Cemetery in 2025 Natural Green Burial 

In 2025 Lakefield Cemetery will be opening Earthsong Meadow a half acre naturalized wildflower meadow that will provide an eco friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional burial.

What is Natural Green Burial? 

Green Burial is a burial practice that aims to return remains to the earth as quickly and naturally as possible with limited impact on the environment. Natural Green Burial of the body forgoes traditional embalming, cement outer burial containers and requires that caskets, containers or shrouds are made from materials that are non-toxic and readily biodegradable. Cremated remains are also allowed to be buried and need to be placed directly into urns that are made of biodegradable material. For more information download our brochure or use the form below.
